More than 3,700 people have attended GlobalFact conferences since 2014. Past conference locations have included London, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Rome, Cape Town, Oslo and Seoul. During the pandemic, thousands of people across 16 time zones attended the summit virtually in 2020 and 2021.
Numerous industry-leading projects and fact-checking advancements have originated through past GlobalFacts, including International Fact-Checking Day, the IFCN Code of Principles and partnerships with major tech companies.

 

What to Expect

 

Networking Events

Besides summit-wide social activities and events, GlobalFact will also dedicate space to facilitate meaningful connections for attendees looking for professional development, idea generation, mentorship and more.

Interest-driven Tracks

Attendees interested in examining a specific topic from various industry perspectives can choose to attend sessions categorized by tracks including Reporting and Editing, Sustainability, Public Policy, AI/Technology, Media Literacy, and Research and Political Science.

Signatory-only Sessions

Verified signatories to the IFCN Code of Principles will have exclusive access to members-only sessions to discuss topics such as working with platforms, protecting independence and database control.

Region-specific Sessions

Leaders from Sarajevo and the surrounding area will discuss the past, present and future of fact-checking in the region and touch on themes such as war propaganda and state-sponsored disinformation.

Expert-led Discussions

Attendees will discuss universal challenges facing fact-checkers today with leaders in journalism, academia, misinformation, technology and more.
