Overview

Building on the skills in the introductory and intermediate certificates, the Poynter ACES Advanced Certificate in Editing is a seven-part certificate program that engages participants in the most advanced facets of editing. Delve deeper into artificial intelligence, developmental editing, editing for inclusivity, developing style guides, and building trust and career resilience with this new program, designed for 2025.

Schedule

Once you enroll in this certificate program, you can start any time and engage with learning material on your own schedule. There are six courses and one final assessment required before you complete the certificate, which we estimate will take 11 hours to complete. The final assessment consists of three essay questions and a final multiple choice quiz made up of 25 questions. The essay questions are reviewed by an assessor and the learner will receive feedback on their responses within 10 days of submission.

This certificate is designed for editors who want to expand their knowledge of business, technology and strategy. Whether you work in legacy news media, public relations, a government or corporate communications, or in the creative arts, this certificate is designed to help you oversee your communications and editing career at the highest level.

Cost

Tuition for this seven-part certificate program is $650.

ACES members get a discount on each of the certificates. You can find that discount code on the ACES website inside the membership portal landing page under “member discounts,” then apply it on the checkout page on the Poynter site.
