Jennifer Orsi
Vice President for Publishing & Local News Initiatives
Jennifer Orsi is Poynter’s vice president for publishing and local news initiatives and oversees Poynter’s digital publishing, marketing and public event team, audience engagement and initiatives to help strengthen local news. She also is the administrator of the Poynter Journalism Prizes. Orsi has more than 30 years experience as a journalist, editor and leader, most recently as executive editor of the Sarasota (Florida) Herald-Tribune and vice president of content over 21 Gannett-owned newspapers and more than 350 journalists in Florida and Georgia.
Previously, she had an extensive career at the Tampa Bay Times, starting as an intern and rising to become the first woman to hold the sole title of managing editor. Orsi oversaw award-winning journalism at the Times and also served on the board of directors of Florida Trend magazine, as president of the Florida Society of News Editors and as a Pulitzer Prize juror.
Orsi also previously worked as director of marketing content and communications for a global asset management subsidiary of Raymond James Financial. She is a graduate of Indiana University.
