Joanna Jacobo Rivera

Joa Jacobo Rivera is the communities editor at The Arizona Republic, leading bilingual coverage across the newsroom with the La Voz team and growing audience engagement with the Spanish-speaking and Latine/x-identifying communities of Arizona. She previously taught journalism courses at Fullerton College and was a reporter and editor for Excélsior California and La Opinión. She holds an M.A. in social innovation from the University of San Diego, where her research centered around innovative diversification and equitable hiring and retention efforts implemented in U.S. newsrooms.
