Linda Shapley (GNI Fellow)

Linda Shapley is publisher of Colorado Community Media, a thriving chain of 26 weeklies and monthlies across the Front Range. She is a longtime denizen of Colorado journalism, with a 30-year history at publications large and small. Linda has also served on the boards of the Denver Press Club, the Colorado State University’s student media alumni group, and the Society for News Design. While her career began in the realm of waxers and a composing department, Shapley has long worked to keep up with the digital evolution of news, from being the Greeley Tribune’s first digital imaging specialist to supporting the rollout of a complete video production studio at The Denver Post, to creating digital audience and newsletter innovations at the Colorado Politics trade journal. At the heart of her work is a commitment to strengthening the voice of a community. A lifelong Colorado resident, Shapley grew up on the northeastern plains and resides in Thornton with her husband, Ed.
