Pamela Turntine

Pamela Turntine is editor-in-chief at Berkeleyside in Berkeley, California, where she manages a staff of seven including a managing editor for the online publication. Before joining Berkeleyside in April 2021, she was a longtime editor at the Bay Area News Group, where she was previously Deputy Metro editor at San Jose Mercury News. She was a member of the East Bay Times’ Pulitzer prize-winning breaking news team for coverage of the deadly Ghost Fire in Oakland. She began her journalism career as a sports reporter and later was a copy editor at the Contra Costa Times. Turntine has spent nearly 40 years in the industry after studying journalism at California State University, Long Beach.
