Sarah Sweeny is the director of marketing, events and communications at the Poynter Institute. Motivated by the voice of the customer, she enjoys developing and executing programs that drive awareness and motivate action.
For more than 15 years, Sarah has pioneered world-renowned brands with Fortune 500 health technology and medical device companies. As a passionate and curious marketer, she leverages her global experience to serve the Poynter mission to elevate journalism in the service of democracy.
Sarah graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of science in psychology and economics. She has expanded her marketing expertise with continued education from Harvard, Columbia, and the Kellogg School of Management. She lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, with her adventurous son and adored dog.
