Stephanie Hayes is a columnist with the Tampa Bay Times and syndicated nationally via Creators Syndicate. She was named best columnist in the state by the Florida Society of News Editors and has a first place National Headliner Award in addition to honors from the Society for Features Journalism, the Green Eyeshade Awards and more. She also writes a weekly email newsletter, Stephinitely. She’s a proud alum of Poynter’s Leadership Academy for Women in Media. She’s the author of two books, Be Serious, an essay collection published by Creators, and “Obitchuary,” a novel. Her nonfiction and fiction writing has appeared in Chicago Quarterly Review, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Boudin, Saw Palm, Bodega and more. Before starting her column in 2020, she was a senior editor at the Times. She lives in Florida with her family and Pomeranian, Rocket.
