Regret the Error reports on media errors, corrections, retractions, apologies and trends regarding accuracy and verification. It was launched as a standalone blog in October 2004 by Craig Silverman, an award-winning journalist and author based in Montreal.
In December 2011, Regret the Error moved to the Poynter Institute, and Craig was named a member of the adjunct faculty. He continues to write and edit the blog, and contributes a related weekly column to the Toronto Star.
Regret the Error is a non-partisan resource to serve the press and public by helping make news reporting more accurate and transparent. He’s also the author of a related book, “Regret the Error: How Media Mistakes Pollute the Press and Imperil Free Speech.” It won the Arthur Rowse Award for Press Criticism from the National Press Club.
