LOUISVILLE (KY)
Fox 11

Checks are in the mailboxes of some victims of sexual abuse by priests and employees of the Archidiocese of Louisville.

The Archdiocese began sending the payments as part of a $25.7 million dollar settlement with 243 people.

The Plaintiffs’ attorney says some received the money about a week ago and that the process is ongoing. The plaintiffs received settlement amounts based on the severity of the abuse they suffered.

77 victims received the largest awards of between $141,000 and $163,000 dollars.
