Controversial Novaliches Bishop Teodoro Bacani Jr. will make his first public appearance Saturday night since he flew to the United States in the light of a sex scandal, in a mass he will celebrate for the anniversary of the El Shaddai Catholic charismatic group, the spokesman of the group said.

Mel Robles, spokesman of El Shaddai leader Mike Velarde, said the bishop will hold a Mass for its faithful at 11 p.m. at Quirino Grandstand in Luneta.

Bacani, who is the charismatic group’s spiritual leader, flew to the US more than a month ago after news of his alleged sexual misconduct found their way in the media. The bishop is being accused by his former secretary of sexually harassing her sometime in March.

Frances Ventura, the clergy’s former secretary, sought the help of Papal Nuncio Antonio Franco, who reported the case to the Vatican. Bacani was immediately placed under investigation by Pope John Paul II.
