After my column last week on online services worth paying for, I received several suggestions from readers for things they like (and don’t like) paying for. I am sharing some of them here and will do part III in this series next Tuesday. Keep your ideas coming. If you know of sites or services worth paying for, e-mail me at poynter@sree.net (and let me know if I can quote you).

WritersMarket.com ($30 a year; $2.00 a month)
Jade Walker, “Sex, Death and Other…” and editor, Siren’s Song, writes: For $30, you get the bible of the free-lance writing world. The online version is lightweight (unlike its doorstop bretheren), it’s completely searchable, and it includes both industry news and an online submission tracker. Best of all, WritersMarket.com is constantly updated whereas the print version only comes out once a year.
ActiveWords.com (introductory price: $9.95)
J.D. Lasica, “new media nomad” and blogger, writes: It’s not an online site, but it is a service that speeds up and enhances online
surfing and productivity.

eLibrary.com ($99 a year or $19 a month)
Free-lancer Bob Andelman writes: “I’ve been a paying user of eLibrary.com for several years. As a freelancer I don’t have free access to a newspaper’s electronic library and I’ve found this to be a great adjunct to what I find free online.”
