In honor of this week’s Unity 2004 minority journalists convention in Washington, D.C., here’s a way to expand your source lists, so that you aren’t always quoting from the same limited pool of people.

Multicultural.com/experts features excerpts from The Source Book of Multicultural Experts, a guide to companies and experts in various markets, including Hispanic, Asian-American, African-American, gay and lesbian, and others. The book features listings sorted by each market as well as by industries such as advertising, healthcare, telecom, and retail. To get an idea of what’s available in the book, see the alphabetical list of contact information for the various organizations here.

The book is a service of Multicultural Marketing Resources (MMR), a company founded by Lisa Skriloff in 1994. The firm works with corporations to get the word out about their diversity efforts. Multicultural.com offers other services, including MMR e-News, a free newsletter which I have found useful for generating story ideas and leads.

Journalists can either consult the Source Book excerpts online or sign up to receive a free copy of the book by e-mailing journalists [at] multicultural.com.
