One of the most talked-about stories of the Democratic Convention was the dozens of bloggers covering it. The quality of their reporting varied, but their presence was a landmark in terms of blogging entering the mainstream. For the first time, people around the world could get their convention news straight from non-journalists on the convention floor. Fewer bloggers are covering the GOP convention, but there are still enough (more than two dozen) to offer different perspectives and story ideas.

Here are a few good sites to help you quickly scan all of these new sources for story ideas.

These three sites display headlines and brief abstracts from a variety of bloggers covering the convention. Each includes a slightly different mix of blogs and uses a different format.

If you’re interested in reading more blogs — including ones by delegates and journalists — I’ve been keeping a more complete list of people blogging the convention on this page on my weblog, CyberJournalist.net.

Protestors’ and Speakers’ Schedules

One of the biggest stories out of the convention will, no doubt, be the protests. Here is a detailed day-by-day look at all of the protests planned, from Newsday.

And here is the latest look at all of this week’s speakers, from GOPConvention.com.
