December 28, 2005

I write a blog item on this topic every year — because there’s always someone who needs to be reminded.

When the year turns late Saturday, make sure that the boilerplate
copyright notice at the bottom of your website pages flips to the year
2006 (as in, “Copyright 2006”).

Of course, the majority of websites these days automate such a simple
task, but every year I notice some that apparently set this manually —
and no one remembers to make the change for several days or weeks into
the new year.

So here’s my annual reminder, in case you need it — and my wish to you for a happy and prosperous new year.
