Significant news in the classifieds sector came earlier this week, as reported by Classified Intelligence Report (a venture of fellow E-Media Tidbits blogger Peter M. Zollman): U.S. jobs site CareerBuilder  is expanding
internationally. It has launched sites in the U.K., Canada, and India. CIR‘s John Zappe also reports that the company is considering
entering additional foreign markets, including Australia and New
Zealand.

Writes Zappe, “The expansion leaves no doubt that CareerBuilder is
pursing an aggressive growth strategy moving into markets where Monster
already has a foothold and where multiple other competitors share the
crowded space. It is also a clear sign that the company isn’t
intimidated by the lack of international media partners, a model it has
leveraged in the U.S. to great success.”

CareerBuilder is a joint venture of media companies Gannett, Knight Ridder, and Tribune Co.
