New York Times journalists been using the
Newsroom Navigator, an online directory of useful Web sites, as part of
their reporting for more than 10 years.

The site is freely available on nytimes.com and a great resource for all journalists, whether you work at The New York Times or not.

The site is maintained as a labor of love by the TimesRich Meislin, the paper’s associate managing editor for Internet publishing and a former technology news editor.

And the site has “navigators” for students, teachers and parents as well.

Special thanks to Hina Alam, a summer fellow last year at Poynter and now a staff writer for The Lufkin (Texas) Daily News, for suggesting The Newsroom Navigator for this column.
