The list of blogs covering the new-media industry that I follow is
absurdly long; I can’t even keep up with reading what’s tracked by my
RSS reader. (There’s so much great and important stuff our there.)
Nevertheless, I’m going to add Cory Treffiletti‘s new blog, User Generated, to my reading list.
UG covers user-generated content, mostly as it affects the
advertising space. He describes user-generated media and how it affects
advertisers this way: “This is where word-of-mouth marketing becomes so
important, and in a world where the mouth of the consumer is so easily
broadcast for the world to hear it, the brands MUST be listening!”
This makes me think that media websites should be thinking about
feedback channels for their advertisers. I’m not sure that it’ll be
enough in the future for a company to place a non-interactive
advertisement on a website. Perhaps it will be more about facilitating
interactions between companies and their customers, though the media
site remains as the initial point of contact.
