We’ve all been inundated with election polls, electoral scenario maps and enough punditry to float a fleet of hot-air balloons. So it’s refreshing that on Election Day, NYTimes.com is serving up something completely different: a user-generated tag cloud of voter feelings.

“What One Word Describes Your Current State of Mind?” the site asks. You can either type in your own term, or select a term from a pulldown menu (examples: upset, curious, passionate, energized). It also asks which candidate you selected. Then it displays an ever-changing tag cloud to give the mood of the electorate. As of this writing (10:40 a.m. EST), the electorate says it’s feeling: “Energized, anxious, hopeful, proud, nervous, skeptical…”

You can also filter for contributions from Obama or McCain supporters, or by time period.
