Even if you were lucky enough to be in the crowd at the inauguration ceremonies, you probably had a limited perspective of the moment when President Barack Obama took the oath of office.

Want a broader view? CNN asked hundreds of thousands of potential photographers to help document the moment with their cell cameras.

They invited people to send in pictures, then turned the photos into interactive, 3D images that reconstruct the panoramic scene. The images stitch together thousands of individual photos and allow viewers to move around the image from side to side and top to bottom. They are combined with images captured by CNN’s professional photojournalists.

The CNN feature, called The Moment, uses technology called Photosynth. (You may need to install some software to view this feature.)

People who sent in photos had the option of including their names, so they could be listed as a contributor to the project.
