Gary Knell wants them to understand how many people rely on NPR for news that no one else is covering. “I think there would be a huge hole in people’s lives if when they were in their car they were not able to listen to some of these programs on public radio,” he tells James Rainey. “If you listen over a period of time you hear voices from all ends of the political spectrum on NPR.
