John Solomon says becoming news and investigations editor at Newsweek and The Daily Beast is “an extraordinary opportunity to essentially be part of a 21st century media startup. It just happens to have the benefit of two extraordinarily strong news brands.” Solomon, who was named Center for Public Integrity executive editor last November, tells Greg Masters:

My whole career I’ve prided myself on leaning forward in journalism, trying to break the next big story, not covering commodity news or leaning backwards into yesterday’s news. Tina [Brown] is an exciting and dynamic figure who really aspires and has already driven Newsweek and The Daily Beast to break the next day’s big stories early, not cover the old news from yesterday.
