The Toronto Star reminded us on Monday of the importance of making corrections (and verifying statements) — no matter how long it takes:
An article in the Star’s Life section in August 2009 contained statements about the partner of Solomon Christiansen’s mother. The Star fell short of journalistic standards in not seeking verification of those statements before publishing them. The Star apologizes to the partner of Christiansen’s mother for any distress caused.
The statement attributed to the man was contained in the first paragraph of the piece, which has been removed.
