Beginning Nov. 17, The Washington Post’s free weekday commuter paper Express will begin delivering a Sunday edition to people who’ve opted in to Savings Now, the Post’s lawn delivered advertorial product for nonsubscribers. More than 180,000 people have elected to receive Savings Now, Post spokesperson Kris Coratti tells Poynter in an email.

The Post’s Sunday print edition had an average circulation of 602,830 in September, according to figures it provided the Alliance for Audited Media (formerly the Audit Bureau of Circulations).

Express’ editorial team will produce the new report.

Savings Now has an interesting role in recent Washington Post circulation reports. The AAM/ABC’s rules allow newspapers to count such branded editions alongside their print and digital distribution. The Post stopped counting Savings Now with its Sunday circulation last year while it audited Savings Now, causing what looked like very steep circulation drops in both the March and September 2012 ABC reports.
