Jeff Pearlman | Nashville Scene

Jeff Pearlman has a message for his former employer, following changes at his former paper, The Tennessean: “Fuck yourself.”

He includes a list of complaints he had about his former employer, like this one:

Remember when you made me apologize to a concert hall because, well, they were a key advertiser, and my piece didn’t praise their shit fall lineup? Remember the follow-up piece you ran on their insistence? The hand-job you gave them? Boy, that was great.

He also notes, as Steve Cavendish did in the Nashville Scene Thursday, that his former colleague Maurice Patton lost his job Thursday.

That was the day the paper informed staffers whether they’d receive jobs in the “newsroom of the future” it announced recently. The application/rehire process was a de facto 15 percent staff reduction.

Gannett’s USA Today also laid off staffers last week.
