San Francisco Examiner

On Monday, the San Francisco Examiner announced that Michael Howerton is its new editor-in-chief as well as “the vice president of editorial at the San Francisco Print Media Co., which publishes The Examiner, SF Weekly and the San Francisco Bay Guardian.”

Howerton is a San Francisco native and, according to the Examiner, worked there previously as an assistant managing editor and managing editor. He also worked at The Wall Street Journal, Contently and iWorld Online.

“The Examiner is San Francisco’s hometown newspaper,” Howerton said. “I am thrilled to be back and proud to be working with the talented staff at The Examiner, SF Weekly and the Bay Guardian to deliver the vital and lively stories that The City deserves. My aim is to have our family of papers provide unsurpassed and indispensable local coverage to all those who live and work in San Francisco.”
