Winners of the 2014 National Magazine Awards were announced Thursday night in New York City. The New Yorker took home four awards, new magazine Modern Farmer also won an award, and Fast Company won Magazine of the Year, according to a press release. The National Magazine Awards are sponsored by the American Society of Magazine Editors and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

“This year’s awards demonstrated not only the enduring power of some of our best known titles but also showcased the exciting stories and compelling images to be found in new print and digital publications,” said Sid Holt, chief executive of the American Society of Magazine Editors, which sponsors the awards. “Whether it’s the reporting in TIME, the feature writing in The New Yorker, the service journalism in O, The Oprah Magazine or the digital magic of National Geographic, the National Magazine Awards showed once again why 91 percent of American adults read magazine media regularly.”

Graydon Carter, editor of Vanity Fair, was also given the Magazine Editors’ Hall of Fame Award. According to the press release, “The actor Jon Hamm also appeared in a wry video to read Carter’s low-key statement of thanks.”

 

Other winners: National Geographic won for both Multimedia and Tablet Magazine, The New York Times Magazine won for Reporting, Bloomberg Businessweek won for Single Topic Issue and Time won for Public Interest. Look here for a full list of this year’s winners.
