The attorneys for Adnan Syed, the man who was convicted of murdering Maryland high school student Hae Min Lee and was the subject of the popular “Serial” podcast, have announced that they intend to launch their own podcast about the case, The Baltimore Sun’s Chris Kaltenbach reports.
Lawyers Rabia Chaudry, Susan Simpson and Colin Miller plan to launch the first of their biweekly podcasts on April 13. According to a statement at the attorneys’ fundraising site at launchgood.com, they intend to approach the subject from an “investigatory perspective instead of a narrative one.”
The remarkable success of the podcast “Serial”, which brought to light the many questions that remained unresolved in this case, also left many questions unanswered. In the wake of Serial, much new evidence and information has been discovered and uncovered.
Former Baltimore Sun reporter Sarah Koenig’s 12-part podcast about who may or may not have killed Lee in 1999 was downloaded more than 76 million times and has sparked passionate new interest in the possibilities of podcasts as a narrative technique.
