The British referendum on membership of the European Union, held Thursday, resulted in a win for the “Leave” camp, leading media outlets across Europe and other parts of the West to dedicate their front pages and home pages to the momentous event.
Here are a few, courtesy of Newseum, Kiosko and the outlets’ own Twitter accounts.
Many opened by featuring prominently Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party and longtime proponent of Britain’s exiting the European Union.
While others opened with David Cameron, who has announced his resignation having failed to win a vote on the back of his renegotiated deal with the EU.
The consequences for Scotland’s independence and the European project, as well as the panic on the money markets, also featured prominently in home pages.
