Editors play an important role in making content inclusive and equitable. Writers need editors’ expertise to ensure their words are not exclusionary, omissive or potentially offensive. Even experienced, talented writers with the best intentions will bring certain biases and weaknesses to their work, which is why editing for inclusivity is so important.

In this course, two experts will walk you through becoming a more inclusive editor, with lessons including:

  • The role and importance of sensitivity reviews
  • Areas to consider when reading for sensitivity, from demographic concerns to controversial topics
  • Suggestions, examples and structure for writing inclusion-related queries
  • Considerations for inclusivity in fiction writing

Through this course you will build your skills in constructive communication, learn to confidently articulate concerns about inclusive writing and word choice, and create your own system for inclusion-related edits.
