Poynter local news expert and faculty member Kristen Hare, along with a slate of accomplished journalists, will provide master-class level instruction on key concepts including understanding the swiftly changing AI landscape, building ethics policies, standards and practices to use with AI, how newsrooms of all sizes are working with AI, and how to fact-check AI. Sessions will include time to learn and experiment with a new tool each week along with detailed follow-up instructions to help participants make the most of what’s out there in an informed way.

This online group seminar will take place weekly on Tuesdays from 1-3 p.m. Eastern starting Oct. 1, 2024.

Participants will receive 75 minutes of instruction, followed by 45 minutes of hands-on guided experimentation with a free AI tool.

Expect to walk away from each week’s session with practical strategies and takeaways you can immediately apply to your work.
